The Maiella Madre described by Plinius the Elder rises up on the one side with the Adriatic sea on the other, bordering what are often harsh prevalently limestone soils, rich in minerals and where fluctuations in temperature between day and night are ideal for nurturing strong and resistant plants such as vines and oli trees.
